Join me for a full‑day experience outside Lisbon, blending architecture, rare local wines, regional food, nature, and the quiet mysticism of the Colares area.
We begin with a comfortable pickup in Lisbon and head to Palácio de Queluz, a beautiful historic palace surrounded by lush gardens. After exploring the palace, we continue to the Regional Colares Winery for a tasting of ancient local wines produced from grape varieties that survived the phylloxera plague — the disease that destroyed almost all European vineyards in the 19th century. Colares was spared thanks to its unique sandy soil, making its wines one of the last authentic expressions of true pre‑phylloxera European wine.
After the tasting, we pause for a lunch or light snack in Colares, at a local restaurant — the perfect moment to enjoy regional flavors and the village atmosphere.
Next, guests may choose to include an optional visit to Adega do Cais by Mare et Corvus, a boutique wine shop offering additional tastings of rare Colares varieties.
We end with a visit to the Capuchin Monastery, a remarkable spiritual site hidden in nature, offering a rare glimpse into the simple and contemplative life of the Capuchin monks.
The day concludes with a comfortable return to Lisbon — enriched with exceptional wine, local food, and new stories.
